With it will be a new raid, new strikes and of course new gear. Thanks to leaks we’ve already seen a small hint of what House of Wolves will have in store. The Reddit user responsible for many of the leaks, Megamanexe4 , also correctly predicted the expansion’s release date, so the leaked information seems legitimate. Players will be journeying once more to the Reef for the raid simply called “The Arena. House of Wolves will supposedly include three new story missions revolving around the Awoken Queen’s Fallen warriors. Those Fallen have revolted against the Queen, and it looks like it will be up to Earth’s Guardians to bring them to justice across missions taking place on Earth and Venus. PvP lovers will also be getting plenty of new content to enjoy in the form of new multiplayer maps. And of course there will be plenty of new gear to enjoy, some of which can be seen here.

Here’s how Destiny: House of Wolves’ new Prison of Elders mode works
It felt light on content, encouraged more grinding in a game that probably had too much of it already, and on its release, rendered much of its hard-earned loot that players had put hours into acquiring essentially useless. It had its moments, but the way it haphazardly approached its convoluted systems left a bad taste just months after the game first debuted. This second expansion, ‘House of Wolves’, does things much better.
For one, all those fancy weapons and armour laden with exclusive properties you’ve become attached to can still be as potent as anything else in the game, provided you do a spot of leg work first.

Our team has been humbled by the reception of Raids in Destiny and we are creating a new Raid for a release later this year,” said Bungie. Instead of a new raid, House of Wolves will introduce a different type of endgame content with a new cooperative battle arena, the Prison of Elders. It will be “focused on variety, replayability, and skill,” according to Bungie. The description suggests that the Prison of Elders could resemble a wave-based “horde” mode.
The calendar will begin April 22 with a walking tour of The Reef and details about the upgrade path for legendary and exotic gear. On April 29, Bungie will reveal the Trials of Osiris and show live gameplay footage of its endgame gear.
Destiny: House of Wolves
Its arrival has brought with it a whole heap of new content and gear, a level increase from 32 to 34 and what many believe is a much needed overhaul to the upgrade and levelling system. As with the former expansion, my first port of call was to work through the new story missions, in which you are tasked with hunting down rebel Fallen under the command of a captain named Skolas. It is clear almost instantly that more thought has gone into this than the story missions packaged with The Dark Below, and whilst its arguably more of the same repetitive Destiny content, its somehow more captivating, with a new spark of life ignited in the game.
With the story missions finished, guardians are then given a final quest to take on the hefty new strike, entitled The Shadow Thief. This takes place on the moon, where you will face off against a mercenary named Taniks. The strike, again, follows typical Destiny formula and sets guardians off on a chase through a sprawling sequence of rooms and corridors before obstructing the final boss fight with a formidable Walker tank.

May, PoE is a 3-player co-operative mode featuring players vs environment. There is a level 28 event as well as levels 32, 34 and Only the level 28 event features matchmaking. ToO is a Player vs Player elimination mode: 3 vs 3 with no matchmaking at all. It is a very competitive PvP mode, as some of the best Crucible players will be teamed-up to earn the best weapons and gear that the trials have to offer.

Destiny’s next expansion, House of Wolves, won’t include a new raid
Video game developer Bungie does not yet have an official launch date for patch 1. The official weekly update features M. Chunge, a design lead at the studio, who explains that players simply do not have the friends required to experience the weekly activities regularly, which limits the game experience rather than expand it. Matchmaking for strikes solves the problem and will mean that more members of the community will be able to interact with each other.
We are thinking hard about how we can help make that an easier experience in future releases. Apparently, the lead design team has other plans to improve the overall Destiny experience in the patch that will follow 1.
Without matchmaking, Raids require groups of players to manually form My Destiny clanmates and I had an expectation House of Wolves.
A cleverer, more creative, more thoughtful expansion than The Dark Below, House of Wolves is Destiny at its best, with a host of fresh improvements. There’s a moment in one of House of Wolves’ campaign missions that is pure Halo. I won’t spoil too much, but here’s the gist: you emerge onto a wide-open field of battle. A fleet of alien ships hang in the sky. A few of them peel off, descend, and deploy troops in a semi-circular arc ahead of you.
The music picks up. Choose a direction. It’s a scenario straight out of Bungie’s classic playbook: the open arena, the shooter refactored as a strategic puzzle game where your finesse, situational awareness and cunning allow you to line up and eliminate enemies like Bejewelled gems. Both Destiny ‘s launch campaign and The Dark Below leaned a little too heavily on corridors packed with bullet-sponge foes: House of Wolves learns that lesson, furnishing you with five new missions each with its own memorable set-piece battle.
They are, however, rather brief. Destiny’s dip-in, dip-out structure still struggles to ground you in an ongoing campaign.

But following the game’s launch in September, a lot of criticism was hurled at Bungie: There was no real story to speak of, it was too repetitive, there was limited matchmaking, and there were plenty of game-breaking glitches and questionable design choices. Fans were, in a word, frustrated. Some fans stuck with Bungie — to the tune of over 3 million people as of October They kept playing the game, exploring the world and cherishing the game’s positive elements while holding out hope that Bungie would fix some of the major issues from the laundry list of bugs and head-scratching design decisions.
And in recent months, Bungie has delivered for those fans. The addition of the mobile vault lets players swap out armor and weapons from other characters — without ever needing to open the game. You just need a smartphone or computer. Since then, Bungie has tweaked aspects of the multiplayer experience by making ammo more scarce and thus more valuable, it’s expanded players’ vault space for storing weapons and armor, and it’s even added support for colorblind players by improving color-driven gameplay elements.
Destiny’s new Prison of Elders mode is a lot of fun – but it’s no Raid
Destiny’s House of Wolves expansion is probably my favorite of the two released in Year One. While I have racked up an impressive or pathetic, depending on your point of view hours of play in Destiny, I consider myself a casual player — not in terms of time played, but in the activities I enjoy within the game. I don’t like raids very much — I’ve only beaten Crota twice, and I have not once completed the Vault of Glass.
House of Wolves (HoW) is the second Expansion Released for Destiny ToO is a Player vs Player elimination mode: 3 vs 3 with no matchmaking at all. and original content of Destiny, all the best loot came from the raids.
Notably, prison keys drop upon the completion of certain bounties, and chests have a higher chance of dropping a key. I adjusted my score accordingly, yet there are still nagging issues with this game no checkpoints in Prison and unfair matchmaking in Trials. While this is nothing new for the franchise, Bungie has opted for a new challenging horde-mode conflict The Prison of Elders to compensate for the lack of a new raid.
This would be a worthy addition for the ranks of guardians, if an average gamer could actually beat the prison in a reasonable time without putting every single waking second into collecting loot drops. Also, House of Wolves marks the beginning of a grueling 3-on-3 competitive tournament The Trials of Osiris. Many Destiny gamers have been waiting for a reason to drop the game and its addictive mindset, and these wolves may be the breaking point for most of the Destiny community to never return to the reef or tower.
First of all, this expansion includes a meager five story missions, which mostly retread areas already explored in the original campaign. Admittedly, Bungie does unlock additional areas, which usually signal the start of a major conflict. As a result, the pacing and tone of these missions is much better than the Dark Below. The simple premise of a hunt for Fallen leaders allows the game to easily further the plot while presenting a formidable antagonist.
Bungie tries to take an interesting approach by mixing another enemy type the Vex into the storyline, even providing a showdown with the famous oracles from Vault of Glass. Ultimately, I still could care less about my character.

The new expansion for Destiny, House of Wolves, has been out for two weeks now, and I already wrote a post and a video with my first impressions. Since I was out of town I only got to base my initial response on the very short experience I had with the first few missions. After playing a good amount of The Prison of Elders and, surprisingly, even The Trials of Osiris, I have some concerns about the future of the title and the engagement levels with the game.
Keep in mind this is after my first impressions were almost entirely positive and my claims after the reveal that this DLC was a huge step forward for the game. This post is going to be more big picture, and I will have future posts about the specific pieces of the content. The first problem I discovered was that a lot of the new and cool rewards are only available in the PVP portion of the expansion.
If you want people to play PVP, then Trials was the way to do it: introduce a highly competitive, limited availability, and very high risk mechanic. And again, it has to be stated that PVP is not what this game was originally sold on, which is why the numbers of low PVP engagement made sense. To be clear, I have no problem with Bungie trying to reinvigorate PVP, but this is not the way to do it. The other reason the split reward pools is a poor decision is because of how lopsided the content is.
